Politicians must pay for official vehicles and fuel used for party promotions – insists Min. Senaratne

Making a revelation at a cabinet press conference on Thursday July 16, Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Rajitha Senaratne stated that the cabinet has reached a decision to charge a fee of Rs. 100,000 from politicians who use official vehicles for the promotion of their party or candidature.
Speaking further, he noted that the Prime Minister, the ministers, state ministers, deputy ministers and the officials who use official vehicles for the promotion of their party or candidature must make this payment, and that they must pay for fuel from their personal money.
The cabinet spokesperson went on to say that if helicopters are used, a payment has to be made for that as well and noted that there is no special treatment for the former president either, as he is committed to make payments for every official vehicle used.
