Mahinda Rajapaksa to contest from Kurunegala under UPFA ticket

Fmr. President Mahinda Rajapaksa signed nomination papers on Thursday (9th) to contest for the upcoming General Election under the UPFA (United Peoples Freedom Alliance) ticket. He will be contesting from the Kurunegala district .
General Secretary of the UPFA Susil Premajayantha was present at the occasion along with a number of politicians including Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga,  Former MPs Dinesh Gunawardene, Wasudeva Nanayakkara, Kumara Welgama and Gamini Lokuge.
Speaking to News1st Rohan Weliwita, spokesperson for the former president, noted that Mahinda Rajapaksa would begin his election campaign from the 13th of this month.
