Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, at an event held in Galgamuwa stated that he was appointed to the position of Prime Minister, with a mandate from the people.
The Prime Minister made this statement at the Galgamuwa UNP Youth Council meeting which was held on Sunday morning. He went on to add that it was said that there will be no-confidence motion to remove the Prime Minister and that alliance government will be formed and the 20th Amendment will be adopted.
He went on to question how such a thing can be done. He added those who want the PM changed are those who failed to change the system for over ten years and that in the 100 day programme it was stated that Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickremesinghe should be elected as President and Prime Minister respectively.
The PM went on to say that he received this position on that mandate, and as always, if they want a change, then a parliamentary election should be held and the people should decide if those who ask for change think they have the support of the people. He went on to say that he is prepared for an election and a position has been reached where the parliament must be dissolved and that he is ready for an election.
