Several killed in Puttalam, Thalangama, Wilgamuwa accidents

Nine persons have been killed and 18 were others injured in  separate road accidents that took place in the country.
Three persons were killed as a result of a collision between a three-wheeler and a lorry in the Pulichchakulama area in Mundalama, Puttalam.
The victims of the incident included an eight-month-old infant, the driver of the three-wheeler and a 70-year-old woman who were all residents of Puttalam.
Two others who sustained injuries in the incident have been admitted to the Chilaw hospital. Meanwhile. an accident occurred between a cab  and a bus in the eighth mile post area in Thalangama on Monday morning.
The accident occurred when the school van travelling from Panadura to Kandy collided on to a bus travelling from Kaduwela to Battaramulla.
While the driver of the cab who sustained severe injuries in the incident, has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, the driver of the bus has been taken into custody.
Another person was killed when a cab traveling from Mahiyanganaya to Wilgamuwa veered off the road and toppled in the 10th mile post area in Wilgamuwa.
Our correspondent stated that five persons were travelling in the cab including the Chairman of the Wilgamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha at the time of the accident.


The deceased is an 18-year-old resident of Matale. The injured individuals, including the Chairman of the Pradeshiya Sabha have been admitted to the Mahiyanganaya Hospital.
