Police media spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara stated that a special search operation is currently underway in the area in search of the missing woman with the assistance of the special task force and the Navy.
The 39 year old missing woman is a resident of Kotaketana area and a mother of 3 children.
Her husband has lodged a complaint to Kahawatta Police stating that when he returned from a funeral house in the neighborhood, his wife was not to be found.
It is also reported that their 12 year old son was with the mother in their residence that night.
Later during police investigations, blood stains were found in 2 places in the residence.
According to our correspondent, the residents of the area have also joined the search operation.
