It was reported that Mr. Sirisena had been attacked near a garage in the area at around 7. 00 p.m. and had been rushed to the Polonnaruwa Hospital Hospital and was later air lifted to Colombo.
Police commenced search operation on the attacker of President Sirisena's brother 'Weli Raju', who is identified as his friend Lakmal, Police stated.
