MR may contest with ASP’s party

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa may contest the next General Elections under the Sri Lanka Labour Party headed by former Presidential candidate A S P Liyanage.
The former President is considering the option in the event the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) does not approve his nomination papers to contest the polls.
Liyanage said that he had talks with the former President and is prepared to offer Rajapaksa nomination papers under his political party.
He said that he will be holding a media briefing this week to further elaborate on his decision to allow Rajapaksa to contest under the Sri Lanka Labour Party.
A S P Liyanage, a leading businessmen in Sri Lanka, has contested past Presidential elections but had often used his time on State media during election campaigning to speak in support of the former President.
