Prasanna Ratnatunga and wife released on surety

Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ratnatunga and his wife have been released on a surety of Rs.50,000 by Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage.
The chief minister and his wife were present in court on Tuesday after a notice issued by court.
The chief minister and his wife have allegedly promised to clear the residents from a marsh land that was to be reclaimed for a sum of 64 million, and for obtaining 15 million.
The Fort Magistrate ordered the chief minister to provide a statement at the police FCID on July 20.
The case will be taken up again on October 7.


The warrant issued to arrest two more suspects who are said to be involved in the incident was postponed to October 7.
