Secretary to the media of former president Mahinda Rajpaksa, said Rajapaksa will contest the August polls under the betel leaf symbol.
Weliwita noted that the former president has also received the blessings of incumbent President Maithripala Sirisena but added that an official announcement is yet to be made as to what district he will be contesting from.
He added that the president and the UPFA have given the former president the freedom of deciding the district from which he wants to contest.
