Five individuals, including three women and a child had drowned while bathing in the Kirama Wewa in Walasmull, this afternoon (19), the police said.
The remains have been deposited at the Kirama Base hospital pending the post-mortem examinations. Police sources confirmed that four deceased were from the same family.
The Walasmull police are conducting further investigations in connection with the incident.
