An explanation has been provided by the Supreme Court on the fields which are affected by the interim injunction that prevents the arrest of the former Defence Secretary, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The Court pointed out that the order will only affect the Inspector General of Police, the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Deputy Inspector General of the Police FCID
A motion presented by the Attorney General was considered before a bench comprising justices Eva Wanasundara and Sarath de Abrew.
Presenting facts on behalf of the Attorney general, Deputy Solicitor General Yasantha Kodagoda inquired whether the order hinders the possibility of arrest for other offences.
The bench at the instance had clearly stated that the injunction order preventing the arrest of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa only affects the four points that are mentioned in the petition.
Time has been allocated till July 7 for all respondents to file objections over the petition.
