The police on Thursday (25) apprehended 52 persons for illegal sand mining in Pallerota area in Hungama, the police Spokesperson said.
Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said that the suspects were arrested during a raid carried out in the wee hours by a tem attached to the Hungama police.
“The raid was performed upon a directive issued by the DIG of the Tangalle Police division,” Gunasekara added.
The suspects will be produced before the Angunakolapelessa Magistrate, today.
