The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has decided to place restrictions on its members from participating at events organized by other political parties.
SLFP General Secretary Anura Pryadharshana Yapa said that the decision was taken in the best interest of the party.
He said that SLFP members cannot attend meetings organised by other political parties without the consent of the SLFP leadership.
Yapa said that as the SLFP is now preparing to face the next General Election, it wants to ensure the unity of the party.
The SLFP has begun to re-organise following the Presidential elections held in January and President Maithripala Sirisena was recently appointed the party chairman.
