More revelations over Navy unit

More details have begun to emerge in the investigations over a Navy unit believed to have been involved in abducting youth and their parents in 2008 and 2009.
Police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had questioned a former Navy spokesman on Saturday as he was believed to be the supervisor of the Navy men who were allegedly involved in the abductions.
He said that investigations had been launched after former Navy Commander Wasantha Karanagoda raised suspicion on the Navy unit.
Investigations were launched in 2011 after a police complaint had been made a year earlier and more details have begun to emerge since then.
Former Navy Spokesman, Captain D.K.P Dassanayake was questioned by the CID on Saturday over the allegations.
Meanwhile the Colombo Magistrate today ordered the police to investigate a camp in Trincomalee where it is alleged that some youth who were reported missing, have been detained.
The Colombo Magistrate issued the order when the case into the missing youth was heard today.
