Rally seeking victory for Mahinda Rajapaksa underway in Nugegoda

A conspiracy is underway in a bid to encourage and develop separatism in the country under the guise of the Government’s 100-day programme, Western Provincial Council member Udaya Gammanpila asserted.
The observation was made at pro-Mahinda Rajapaksa rally which is being held in Nugegoda at the moment.
Gammanpila also accused the Government of turning a blind eye on an incident in which a group of army soldiers were being shot while on patrolling duty somewhere in Vavuniya district on 5 February, what he explains as new twists in the reorganization process of left over LTTE elements.
Political Scientist Dayan Jayatilleka reading a statement written by Rajapaksa said “What we are experiencing now is a result of a conspiracy, but not a defeat. However, I would never hesitate to accept my defeat and respect the people’s choice. Disgrace and defeat are not unusual elements in my life. Even to being in a prison would not be awkward or unfamiliar thing for me. I’m capable of taking all this pressure for the sake of my supports.”
