FORMER Australia wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi belted 170 off just 99 balls as part of a world record sixth-wicket partnership for New Zealand in the 5th one-dayer against Sri Lanka.
Ronchi came to the crease with the Black Caps in all sorts of trouble at 5-93, after Sri Lanka’s pacemen cleaned up the Kiwi top order.
But Ronchi combined with batsman Grant Elliott (104*) to pull New Zealand out of the mire and then take their side into the stratosphere with an incredible 267-run stand, as the Kiwis finished on 5-360.
The highest ever sixth-wicket partnership in a one-day international came off 30 overs and travelled at a rate of 8.9 runs per over.
It was the seventh highest partnership for any wicket in the history of one-day international cricket.
